Six Bangladeshi trawler crew members abducted from Naf river

Six Bangladeshi crew members aboard two trawlers were abducted from Naf river yesterday morning on their way to St Martin’s Island.
The incident occurred around 8:00am, shortly after the trawlers carrying construction materials set off for St Martin’s Island from Teknaf, said Abdur Rashad, president of the Teknaf-St Martin’s Trawler Owners’ Association.
“They have possibly been abducted by the Arakan Army,” he stated.
“We informed the matter verbally to the Border Guard Bangladesh ( BGB), Coast Guard and other agencies,” he added.
Lt Colonel Md Mohiuddin Ahmed, commanding officer of BGB Battalion 2 in Teknaf, today said that they have no information regarding the reported abduction at this time.
